David R. Barrett is President/CEO of Barrett Capital Management, LLC. With almost four decades of sales management, company ownership experience, and civic involvement, he is very dedicated to meeting the needs of his clients. David is Series 65 registered as an Investment Advisory Agent. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Marketing. David is a 2011 and 2013 recipient of the Five Star Wealth Managers award. In 2010, David was appointed by Virginia’s Governor to the Board of Directors for the Virginia Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Program. David served as Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Investment Committee. David is also Past Chairman of the Board of Christian Children’s Fund (now ChildFund International), an international children’s charity serving over 10 million children and their families in 33 countries worldwide.
Damir Strmel is the Director of Quantitative Development for Barrett Capital Management, LLC and brings over 19 years of wealth management and financial engineering experience. Before joining Barrett Capital Management, LLC, Damir spent 11 years at private investment funds creating and modeling trading algorithms in addition to developing software to implement, monitor and evaluate investment strategies. At Barrett Capital Management, LLC, Damir has worked with Russell Lundeberg, Jr. to develop metrics that identify and monitor the key fundamental data driving global markets. This collaboration has culminated in the development of a unique quantitative methodology using fundamental market data to identify market inflection points and future pricing trends. While Damir leverages his technical skills to derive fact based, data driven conclusions, his ability to "think outside the box" allows him to get beyond the conventional wisdom and academic literature constraining many advisors.
Damir was born in Croatia and has traveled extensively. His depth and breadth of knowledge, experience and technical skills lends invaluable insight into the global macro-economic environment and enhances his ability to find creative solutions to investment strategy and portfolio construction problems. Damir holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Virginia and a Master of Business Administration in Decision and Information Sciences from the University of Florida. To round out his education, he has taken courses in Philosophy and Literary Criticism at the New School University in New York City. Damir is Series 65 Registered as an Investment Advisory Agent. In his free time he teaches Tai Chi to senior citizens and enjoys golfing, backpacking, and playing and recording music.
Alison S. Crowder is the Chief Compliance Officer and Controller of Barrett Capital
Management, LLC. She joined our team in 2006 and is a CPA with over 20 years of
experience in public, hedge fund, and partnership accounting. As an auditor, Alison
specialized in financial markets and consumer products prior to serving as a fund
accountant for a Commodity Trading Advisor. She taught Intermediate-Accounting as an
Adjunct Professor at Randolph Macon University and has served on the Board of Directors
for the Junior League of Richmond and the Richmond Synchronized Ice Skating Club.
Alison is a graduate of University of Richmond where she earned a Bachelor of Science in
Accounting. She is a member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals.
Russell E. Lundeberg Jr. is the Chief Investment Officer for Barrett
Capital Management, LLC. Russell has extensive experience in the areas
of investment strategy, portfolio management, investment analysis, and
is well regarded for his expertise with alternative investments. He holds
the CPA designation and is Series 65 registered as an Investment Advisory
Agent. Russell is a former member of the Central Virginia Board of Governors,
and the statewide Board of Directors for the Virginia Opera. Russell has
a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Richmond in Accounting
and a Masters degree in Management Information Systems from the University
of Virginia. Russell has spoken at investment forums in the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean, and
Europe. He has been quoted in, or interviewed by many well-known

Spencer Hines is a relationship consultant for Barrett Capital Management, LLC. His educational background includes graduating from St. Christopher’s School, University of Virginia (BA), and The Darden School (MBA). His entire work experience has been in finance as a commercial banker, a corporate treasurer, and an investment banker. His business career began in New York and continues in Richmond.
Throughout his life, he has served as a member of numerous boards of directors of business, civic, and non-profit organizations. His connections in business and other activities are abundant.
He has two sons with whom he enjoys sports of all kinds and laughter.
With over 30 years of experience in customer and client services, Deneen Terrell is responsible for the operational and administrative support of our office. Her expertise allows her to provide all manner of support throughout the client onboarding process as well as to ensure existing clients receive the highest level of personal attention. Deneen’s industry knowledge and attention to detail allow her to assist the investment team with obtaining all information required to manage client portfolios.
Before coming to work for Barrett Capital Management, LLC, she provided client services and administrative support for Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems, the Virginia Biotechnology Research Park and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Deneen was born and raised in Hanover County, Virginia and currently resides in Richmond. In her spare time, Deneen enjoys spending time with her grandson, who is the joy of her life. She likes to bowl, play softball and spend time with family.
Steven Settlage is a relationship consultant for Barrett Capital Management and
is Series 65 Registered as an Investment Advisory Agent. His educational
background includes graduating from Vanderbilt University, where he majored in
electrical engineering and physics, and Washington & Lee University law school,
from which he graduated with honors. He practiced law for ten years upon
graduation, concentrating on real estate and business law, becoming a partner,
Chairman of the Real Estate department and member of the Executive
Committee of a major law firm. Mr. Settlage left law practice to join his largest
client, where he rose to become President and Chairman of a large commercial
real estate company. Mr. Settlage then founded a company which concentrated
on developing age targeted condominium communities, which later combined
with a large homebuilding company in Richmond, VA, becoming President in
2014. Mr. Settlage has served on the boards of various public and private
companies as well as schools, church and charitable organizations.
Chuck Maddux is a relationship consultant and a Series 65 Registered Investment Advisor for Barrett
Capital Management, LLC. He was the Pastor of Finance and Stewardship at West End Assembly of God
church for over twenty years where he had the opportunity to counsel hundreds of church members in
the areas of investing, budgeting and estate planning. Before that he was co-owner of a local business
that employed over 60 people. Chuck studied mathematics at Virginia Tech (BA) and did his graduate
work at University of Richmond and Regent University where he earned his MBA and Master of Divinity.
He also completed the Certified Financial Planning (CFP) program at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Chuck is currently on the Board of Directors of the Family Foundation of Virginia where he serves on the
Finance Committee. He has also served on advisory committees with the Retail Merchants Association
and the Potomac District Council of the Assemblies of God.
